Objectives
The Club is a not-for-profit limited liability company and exists to advance interest in the history, restoration, care and preservation of motor vehicles. The Club assists the community through financial
donations and attendance at relevant functions.
History
In 1963 Nambour citizens Ian Hayne and David Sharpe conceived the idea of a local antique car club for the purposes of the restoration and preservation of ‘old faithfuls’ of by-gone days. A meeting was held on 19 February 1963 at Bert Skinner’s Garage and the “Antique Car Club of Nambour” was born.
Restoration was the main interest to members. In April 1964 Mick Hayes’ 1912 Buick became the Club’s first car to be fully restored. The first public appearance in Nambour for the Club’s cars was in taking part in the Warana Festival procession on 26 September 1964. The first Club rally was to Alexandra Headland on 3 September 1964. The Club was subsequently renamed the Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club.
